Frequently asked questions

What do I need to know when preparing for installation?

You do not have to be out of your house during installation, however we do require a bit of space to work within and our tools can be loud.

For large installation jobs, we require an initial space to store cabinetry and components till they are finally fixed. This could be as simple as making space in a lounge or using a spare room. In regard to the place of installation, this area too, needs to be cleared. This will make our job easier and our installation time shorter.

For existing kitchens that are being replaced, it is recommended you keep your existing kitchen for as long as possible prior to installation, as you will be without this space for a period of time. During this time, clients are known to use small appliances for cooking and/or have take-out. We understand this is an annoying predicament you, however, our team will try our best to get your life back to normal as soon as possible.

What products and hardware does Kitchen Spectrum typically work with?

Our primary hardware is Blum, however we do use other brands such as Hafele. Any other specified hardware wanted by you can also be discussed. It is also worth noting Blum comes with the security of a lifetime warranty.

Substrate-wise, here at kitchen spectrum we use white Melteca and Melamine on moisture resistant MDF. Although white is typical, other colours can be used to match hardware or your specific design needs.

The external linings of your cabinetry could be a variety of products. We usually work with board brands such as Laminex, Prime Panels and Bestwood. However, we are adaptable to your specific design needs. We have completed jobs in the past that have had floorboards, steel and bathroom tiles, etc, used as the fronts of cabinetry.

How much do kitchens and custom cabinetry cost?

Costs are completely dependent on the materials you use and the complexity of your design. It is important to note, our cabinetry are made from high quality materials, fine craftsmanship and are entirely customised to your space and design needs, unlike typical household hardware stores. For this reason, cabinet makers are typically priced higher then stock-standard off-the-shelf cabinets. It is best to get in touch with us directly for more accurate pricing.
